Role & Responsibilities of Housing Society Federation in Maharashtra

Housing society federation in Maharashtra is primarily responsible for providing guidance and support to individual housing societies, related to book-keeping, audit, bye - law amendments, dispute resolution, organizing training workshops for office bearers, and ensuring compliance with the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act 1960.

The provision of Federation of Societies has been made in the Maharashtra Co-operative Society Act 1960 and Rule 1961. 

Federation on district level are worked as follows :

• To provide direction on Formation of Co-operative Housing Society.
• To provide direction on Conducting Managing Committee Meeting, Annual General Body Meeting,  Special General Body Meeting.
• To give all necessary co-operation for forming new housing societies.
• To provide direction regarding amendments of Bye-laws society.
• To organize guidance workshop for office bearers of co-operative housing societies and to redress their complaints through questions and answers.
• To guide General Meetings of Co-operative Housing Societies, on Society's written request.
• To provide direction regarding the Redevelopment, Self Redevelopment, Conveyance Deed, Deemed Conveyance,  society elections etc.
• To provide training to the Members and Committee Members.
• To Follow up the co-op society's issues with State Government, Central Government, Court etc.
• To provide direction to the Chief Promoter of Co-operative Housing Societies regarding holding of the first general meeting as well as the proceedings in this meeting.
• To provide direction for Registration of Co-operative Housing Societies.
• To provide and publish guidance regarding various problems of Housing Societies.
• To provide copies and Bye-Law, MCS ACT 1960, Amendments and other documents required for setting up Co-operative Housing Societies.
• To make available various forms, registers, society related books etc. required for keeping the record of the co-operative housing societies properly.
• To provide guidance as per section 154 B (29) recovery from the defaulter member of the society.
• To guide for raising various funds like Sinking Fund, Repair and Maintenance Fund, Major Repair Fund etc.
